Mountain bike tyres

Both hardtail and fully sus had puntures and on inspecting the tyres today found that 3 Tyres have holes, due to very soft and thin sidewalls no doubt.

I'd like to replace the hardtail's tryes with something similar to cross tyres and the fully sus with something of an all rounder tyre.

Any suggestions and recommendations.

Schwalbe seem to be their manufacturer on bargain at the moment but some excellent deals, I got a pair of Michelin All Mountain and a pair of Continental Speed King from them last year for the grand sum of a tenner a tyre.

I have used Panaracer Fire XC Pros with kevlar Panaracer Flataway liners and they have been fine for the last 5 years. Others I've used have been the Continental Vector or Vertical (forget which) but they are a little softer and have thinner sidewalls. However they do have a rounder profile which rides out of ruts slightly better. Most of my riding is around Leith Hill and the guys at Nirvana in Westcott recommended the Fire XCs as a good allrounder. since 2006 I have been unable to disagree.

Thanks Guys for the advice. On-one seems offers unbelievable deals, will keep them in mind for the future.

Bought a couple from Wiggle for around £20. The Specialized S- works I'm replacing only lasted over a season before getting holes in both front and rear side walls, and at £60 / pair doesn't represent good value for me.
