Worlds (spoilers)

Blimey. How did he do that?

And how are his new team going to cart that ego around?

Based on the smile on Brailsford's face when he just hugged Cav - I think we can confirm he's on Sky.

Although I was beginning to wonder if he might have gone to Rabobank....

With 1k to go, it looked like he'd lost it but somehow ...

I wonder if Peachey took the win only or odds for a place. Would've still been £37.50 for 3rd @ 30:1.

Superb race, plenty of attacking and GB riding a hard race sitting on the front controlling from the off. I thought they'd started too early and would die towards the end but they did really well.

All GB rode great but Millar's TTing to reel in attacks followed by Brad's TT to reel one in and then keep it lined out, followed by Stannard's superb run along the barriers to open the path (that man's a horse of a rider). Then Cav of course, he is just unbelievably good in a sprint. No matter what the pressure, the conditions, how the race goes, he finishes it off time and time again. He really is one of the all time greatest sprinters and hopefully can repeat at the Olympics and show the home crowd of predominantly non-cyclists just how good and what a star he is.

All in a fantastic week for GB:
Women's TT - Bronze
Men's TT - Silver
Junior women road race - Gold
U23 men's road race - Bronze
Men's elite road race - Gold.

Now that's a good week's work :D .

Won't be much longer to wait to find out. Announcement due after the worlds, now will is contract have a 'if I win the Worlds' clause?

Haven't shouted at the telly like that for a long time. Top work GB and well done Cav :D

Wow, that was an awesome atmosphere at the event. Half of the population of Norway seemed to have nipped across the Baltic Sea to cheer on Thor and Edvard, whic they did quite vocally.

Very impressive display by the GB team. When they were sat on the front from so early on I thought they were going to blow it by trying to boss the race for such a long time, but credit where credit's due they had a plan and delivered it. It was very very nerve wracking watching the last few laps. I thought they'd blown it again when the attacks started going, then with one lap to go it looked like they'd got it under control with just 3 guys a short way off the front. As they appeared from the final corner tem GB was nowhere to be seen, but somehow Cav battled through with perfect timing. :D

If Carlsberg made world championship road races...

"It was daunting," Millar said, "but everybody did their job even more than we expected." The Scot had been sharing a room with Cavendish in the team hotel. "What can you say about Cav? He's a funny little bastard. We've watched every race together in our room and every time we've watched a finish he's been off his bed, shouting: 'I promise I'm going to win on Sunday.'" The most impulsive and emotional of men but the most cold-blooded of athletes when the fires of competition are at their fiercest, Cavendish would be keeping his end of the bargain.

I think the Sports Personality of the Year should definitely go to the man responsible for bringing back the rainbow jersey. Road captain David Millar.
