ACC IoW w/e 2012!!

Postby Amy » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:56 pm

Yes, it's that highlight of the ACC sporting year again :D

Someone, I forget who, sorry, asked if it was on this year, a little while ago... So here I am again, trying to drum up a lot more enthusiasm for it than we've had for a few years now.

Normally in October at the end of the racing system, it's a bit of fun, heading over to the Isle of Wight to stay in Yarmouth before riding round the entire island - it's not far, if a little bumpy - and then another evening in the pub before coming home on the Sunday. In the past we have ridden round in faster or slower groups or altogether and waited as necessary. Or why not have a mtb group? We even had a WAGs group with other halfs joining together for a bit of sightseeing or pampering.

It's all good fun so it would be nice to get this up and running again! I'll try and talk it up out on the club run but maybe others could mention this when out on the bike or see others from the club. I'm even thinking someone could do some cards to hand out so that people have a reminder for when they get home.

So please, sign up and get talking about it.

And would someone suggest a suitable date when there is a minimum of other things going on, like races and tts.

Come on, folks - it's part of what makes the Addiscombe such fun

Bec HC is on 14th Oct if you want to avoid that. Personally not bothered, will probably ride it but don't mind missing it. Can't see any other TT dates of note in Oct, Redmon GP is 21st but not a big grabber of people from the club - more a case of if around ride for those that do I think.

I'd like to do the trip again but may have to be a late decision depending if a move happens this year and if it does, when.

Well, we won't mention last year, jnr! Hopefully, we'll have more than enough people coming along and I won't have to ask someone to take my kit and bike down because I can't get away from work

When's half term? That's Surrey and London, cos are't they a week out?

It's a never ending move, damn dead market.

If the weather carries on like this the IoW might be underwater by October.

Ok, shall we say w/e of 20/21 September? Provisional, of course but earlier means we may get some half decent weather - bit like now...

Now, let's get some names. Talk it up on the club run.

I keep getting flyers from estate agents with people desperate to buy my flat...

W/E is 22nd and 23rd Sept. Count me out for that as 23rd is the ACC SERRL promotion which I'm helping at.

Yes I get the flyers, no one buying at the moment though, think everyone is holding fire until after Jubilee/Euros/Wimbledon/Olympics.

Ok, so that would be arrive Friday 21, ride round island 22 and return home 23. Of course, people can do variations on that as in the past.

Sorry, you can't make it, Andrew, but it's early days yet and dates only provisional

Well, unless there's a mass protest, let's go with 21-23 Sep... Oh sh*t, I've realised I've confused my months

RESET!! We started off talking about OCTOBER but I got September stuck in my stupid brain for some equally stupid reason.

OK, try again - how does 19-21 OCTOBER sound?

I dunno, they make me redundant and my brain goes to mush...
