Thanks for posting this, Marco. Like you no one said anything to me about my bike today - I got off at Gatwick and rode home BTW.

There's no one policy as far as I can tell. Each operator has a different view but there is no doubt that there are heavy handed restrictions on bikes on any trains going near Box Hill this weekend.

Luckily I have been able to borrow a Brompton for the duration of Sebfest, so I'll still be able to get to work wirthout having to resort to the car.

Another thought I had was to turn up with a large bag to put the bike into, then claim that "No, it's not a bike, it's a collection of bike parts in a very big bag." this would be a bit legalistic, but the policy definitely refers to bikes, not bike parts (at least Southeastern's does).

I'm sure the 8 people in the same carriage as me this morning and the 9 in the same carriage this evening were massively less inconvenienced by the fact that I had a folder rather than a proper bike with me today.
