winter training anyone?

Postby JayneToyne » Tue Oct 19, 2004 10:54 am

Anyone in Addiscombe who fancies having a go at racing next year, wants to try and improve on this years racing or wants a training programme put your hand up... and read on

yes thats right, it's that time of year when we are all weary of riding/racing all summer, need some time out and during that time out we sort out those training schedules and programmes to help us focus and do better next year.
(unless of course you are a Cyclo Cross rider and your season is in full swing)

It's time to extend my services to the ACC massive again to see if anyone wants a bit of a hand with their winter training programme and next seasons goal setting.
You don't actually have to be a racer to want to set goals or have ambitions on the bike.

Im planning on a fortnightly weekend coaching road ride throughout winter from December through to March, this is open to all abilities, however I will run specific coaching rides for specific abilities if enough of you request it.
The aim of coaching rides is to work on skills as much as fitness.
Base training is a time to not just work on your "base" fitness but also on your basic skills which you take for granted or rarely think of practising.
I can also arrange turbo sessions at the club room if enough of you want it as well.

For those who haven't met me before or are new to the club, I am currently Addiscombes only active sports coach, as I was partly funded by the club initially, I generally work for very little or no money for club members( unless its a 1:1 full time basis then that's slightly different), I give my time in a hope that I capture someones imagination, that they achieve their goals and I get personal satisfaction from that. Of course donations are always welcome :)

I'd be interested in attending turbo sessions at the club. I have a borrowed turbo at home but it seems to make an awful lot of noise and I'm acutely aware of the proximity of my neighbours as I whirr away. As a result I have only done 2 rather curtailed sessions.

Would be great to attend a structured session in a venue where noise isn't a problem.

Yes to road sessions - will be free to start and raring to go in the new year. I'd like to set some targets otherwise there's no focus and I'll get lazy(er).

Cheers

I would be up for it - would be good to get the lady cyclists involved too - dates are coming through for different sessions and I'm keen to go to as many as the sessions as possible so hope there aren't any awkward clashes - I know there is a women's training weekend happening Dec 11th/12th in Chester - a bit far, but was hoping to do it anyway - John Leitch is also planning something at Newchapel that Saturday as well.
