ACC Annual Photographic Competition

Postby Andrew G » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:15 am

The club has an annual photographic competition (with a trophy for the winner) which is voted on and awarded at the annual club dinner in January.

All club members can enter and it doesn't matter whether it's a shot taken on a phone or a professional level SLR. The photos are judged by all the members attending the dinner by simply ticking the box of your favourite on the forms left on your table, the photos run on a slide show throughout the meal until the awards part of the evening.

To celebrate a rather unique year the theme is "London 2012".

Photos can be anything to do with the Olympics, Paralympics, any of the venues, an image of London with its Sunday best on, or anything that has that capture the moment certain something.

There is one photo per person allowed - you must have taken the photo yourself.

Please email your entry to: andrewgreen23 [squirly at symbol] btinternet [dot] com

Thank you.

There isn't one normally, but this has been a somewhat special year. The World's biggest sporting spectacle on our doorstep, a fairly unique occurrence.

Plenty of scope for variety, the World's best Olympians, paralympians, a venue, you or friends and family at a venue/event, or something else with a London 2012 connection.

Sorry Rich but fancying one of them is a but tenuous :D .

One entry so far, that's it.

No entries, no competition...or we just give Snoop the trophy.

I'm glad you've finally got a few entries - can't have me winning it!

I think it's a shame we can only put in one entry each, I like this pic I got of Lizzie Armitstead on her way to becoming GB's first 2012 medal winner

And this one of Chris Froome on the TT is good too - love the shouty woman on right of shot

And finally - I couldn't resist applying a mildly druggy effect to this one of Vinokourov

Photo shows the two main protagonists in the mens' mtb race at Hadleigh Park. World Cup winner Nino Shurter (SWI) leads World champion Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) from early in the race, in a real clash of the titans.

Shurter led the final climb but made a small tactical mistake when he allowed Kulhavy to take the inside line and come past him, allowing to win the sprint to the line by less than a bike's length.

Kulhavy stood on the podium with the boots his entire team had brought, expecting typical British weather instead of the burning sunshine of the day (not my photo):

10 now. Please send me your entry if you have one in the next couple of days as it will close in the week so that George has enough time to sort out his AV for the dinner.

Thank you.
