Club Kit

A quick question that I'd be interested in people's answers to:

Why do so few ACC riders wear Addiscombe kit?

That's it for me, yellow is such a naff colour that goes with very few colour schemes on bikes. May sound sound a bit anal but I like to look coordinated on my bike, not like I got dressed in the dark.

We were only saying today how few people turn up for a club run in club colours.

I like the colour especially when commuting, so I will wear club colours several times a week. When I think about buying new kit I always consider club kit, however being Scottish I usually only consider buying things

NP members seem to regularly wear their club colours. I have seen a few Addiscombe riders in kit recently but I guess from what is being discussed this is not the norm on the club run?!?!?!

But I would also ask, what is the driver to buy club kit if you don't race and therefore have no need of it?

Nearly always wear club kit on the Saturday ride but I've got lots of other nice stuff to wear on the bike (especially in summer) - and also I need to wash the club kit...

A winter jacket would be a really good idea - I was wearing club kit yesterday but I had to put a non-club jacket on over the top for that extra warmth.

Doesn't matter if you don't race - wearing club kit is all part of being in the club - or should be!

I suspect that there is an issue with coordination. A lot of the bikes aimed at the more macho-posturing/insecure end of the market tend to be at least partly red and that really doesn't go.

Also, as Amy pointed out a lot of people are wearing warmer stuff than is available in club kit.

It does look better on the CR when people are "in uniform".

Cost is one issue. Out-of-date pro kit of similar or better quality gets heavily discounted, hence my proud sporting of full Borat kit in the warmer months.
There's also the amusement factor - with my swarthy good looks, skinny frame and caterpillar eyebrows, I crested Bwlch in last year's DRagon to encouraging cries from the friendly valley folk (the unfriendly ones just threw sheep) of "Go, Alberrrrto!", "Look out lads, bloody Contador's coming through!"
As for commuting, I would recommend Dynamo kit - gives immunity to traffic lights and the Highway Code.
Happy new year everyone.

for me i always wear club kit during the season whilst racing, which is usually around 2-3 times per week. In the off season at the moment it is too cold to wear my club kit so i wear my faded  assos winter jacket.
When the weather warms up in spring i will go back to wearing a mixture of club kit and other designs I have.
When training/racing hard, through sweating and for hygiene I don't have enough time to keep washing my club kit so have to alternate with different ones especially when training during the week on the turbo etc.
On the club run most riders who aren't in the training group tend not to work up too much of a sweat which can often be shown by the constant chatting and expressing of themselves in an entertaining manner such as Julian and Marky Mark who at least we are having some respite from at the moment  as can be seen they always wear their club kit which prooves my point they don't try hard enough

Of which a large percentage bikes have one of the above colour in their paint scheme. You see yellow on only a handful of bikes and that's on a good day so yes, now if we had black, red and white kit we'd look a whole lot smarter

I always race in club kit and wear it for training or social rides if clean when warm enough as I don't have any decent winter club kit at the moment. Will get one of the new winter tops when I need a new one. I still have an old pair of tights I commute in but the pad isn't comfortable enough now for longer rides in them. I have a 2 designs old winter top I still wear sometimes but it is starting to lose a bit of its warmth.

I don't go for all this tarty match jersey to bike, but then if you all ride black bikes then they would go with any colour so you have no excuse :) .

The new club kit looks good and I don't think claiming it clashes with your bike's colour scheme is really a credible reply.

There's 2 main reasons for me that I don't always wear club kit.

1. I ride on the Sat CR and Sun CR. I have one short sleeve and one long sleeve top, so I wear club kit one day, but not the other.

2. At this time of year, the long sleeve kit isn't warm enough. If there was a warmer, wind-stopper version, then I'd buy that..... but there isn't.

There also aren't any warmer winter bib tights, so I'll only wear the club shorts until it gets too cold.

But, these points aside I try to wear club kit on club rides.
