What bike?

If you were buying a bike what would you get and why?

Likewise is there anything you'd add I.e wheels, power etc?

I've been looking a while and like the look of Argon but only TT frame from 2 years ago so haven't gone for it.

What for?

I must admit, the bike I don't have and wish I do is an all-round light-tourer type machine. If I had the money, I'd get a custom-sized Enigma Etape for that. I think the spec I wanted worked out around £3,500 for, pretty much, the ultimate general-purpose road bike.

I looked at the Argon frames for TT. The thing is, Planet X give you a whole load of TT bike for your money so that's the way I went. Or see if George is ready to flog his P4 yet.

I would get a steel custom made Serotta or Roberts in columbus Niobium tubing, Easton EA90 SLX wheels, compact ultegra kit, Easton EC90 SLX bars, Spesh BG saddle with the nut cut-out and shod with Conti 4000S or Michelin pro race 3 (the latter in same colour as bike). Pedals would be Look.
Reason is I like steel - my steel/carbon LeMond is super comfortable, and I like the look of steel bikes. Plus I'm old enough and slow enough to know I'm never going to win any races and a hundred mile hilly sportive will likely see me spend 8 hours elapsed time rather than 5, so a super fast carbon 15-pounder would be wasted on me.

Depends what the bike is for and the budget. Custom titanium frame and 3T pro funda forks with 43mm rake, bladed and handle brilliantly. 74 degree seat tube on road bike 76 on TT bike. 72.5 degree head angle on road bike, 72 on TT bike which has a shorter top tube. Happy with my front race wheel (built to my spec), a 60mm carbon rim on a Royce hub, ideally would upgrade the disc to a Ghibli.

Yes, I'd definitely add some wheels.

If you're going for wheels, I'd definitely have brakes then
