TdF 2013 thread (possible spoilers)

Postby Phil H » Sat Jun 29, 2013 9:33 pm

Well that was a bit of a mess. I did have Kittel in my fantasy team though - more by luck than judgement.

Still, there's a long way to go. I have done my bit checking out the route of Stage 18 for the boys and that one looks nasty. Anyone who can get away on the initial Alpe d'Huez ascent stands a good chance of being able to stay away on the tricky descent of the Col de Sarenne which looks a bit like this:

Yes, Surrey County Council are now managing the roads in the Isere department.

Nice death-or-glory stage win there by Bakelants. "Everyone else is messing around, time to PLF".

If you looked carefully at the finish of today's TTT, you would've seen Frank Cubis with the stopwatch.

So with the prize money from stage win and the TTT win, has Orica-Greenedge paid off the fine for trashing the stage 1 finish line with their bus?

OK, my French isn't great but they fined him because he had the rainbow bands on his TT bike, but this was a team TT? Well I am glad the UCI take that sort of behaviour seriously.

UCI, always focussing on the important things.

Cav did okay for a bloke with a bad throat.

Great stage :D . Livened up on the long penultimate climb by a good rider so you get a prolonged spell of good riding rather than the yawn tests of late where everyone looks at each other until the final 4k of the last climb, if no it closer to the finish.

Good to see Contador suffer as he was off Froome's pace at the Daupine and to improve so much in such a short spell would have been a bit suspicious.

That was a pretty decisive move. I really thought he'd gone too soon but the amount of time Froome put into "the rest" could well be important over the next couple of weeks. Initially I thought they might move to put Porte in yellow to take some pressure but Froome was just too strong.

The rest looked like me going up the Col d'Ornon after a few beers in Bourg.

Also classic TV Tommy today. There he was, jersey unzipped gurning and weaving his way up the mountain when Quintana comes past looking like he's out for a casual ride.

Well I bet Sky were glad of the rest today. Many more stages like yesterday and Froome is going to be in trouble.

There is a long long way to go. FroomeDog will have the Spaniards working against him and his team isn't looking too strong currently. Fortunately he is :)

Great tactic and win today for Kittel, he looks strong and powerful....At least Cav knows what he needs to do tomorrow to pay him back.
