Oh dear I've broken a few of these rules. What about the rest of you?

Sorry Toks, this type of stuff annoys me. It's aimed at the newer cyclist with a bit of money who rides a bike.

Think of it this way if you've broken the rules then you've been riding a bike for a while. Sorry to be an old man but when I joined my first cycling club, they were just pleased to have another member, were'nt worried about anything else. You were taught important things that as you gained experience.

Sorry old man rant over!

lol...no probs Dominic to be honest I'm not particularly bothered about them. I just though it was interesting - definitly one for the snootier Roadies. The other day someone with a helmet cam, track suit bottoms, a saddle bag the size of a satchel and a set of incredibly hairly legs blew away a few fast guys at Regents Park for a lap or two. I must admit I did chuckle to myself as they eventually chased him down

I think most of them are funny, half of them are useful, and half of them are totally pointless or even plainly wrong (such as "not eating in rides under 4 hours").

When I mean useful, I talk about rules like "keep the brand of the tyre aligned with the valve". Well, that is useful. But it's pointless to tell "Team kit is for kit members": I wear whatever I want.

Perhaps they need to be read three or four times to find in them a deep sense of humour. Problem is, most of people who think they are actual rules then apply them as such, and problems come: Rule #5 must have broken a few hamstrings and quads by now...

At the end of the day, it's the opinion of four guys.

Cheers!

I've been trying to work up a more concise version:

1. Wear what you like - which may or may not include a helmet.
2. Ride what you want - road, fixed, mudguards, MTB, cross - it's all good
3. Be nice

Do lighten up. Read them, they're obviously tongue in cheek (fnarr fnarr. quiet at the back!)

Have to admit snow put me off. By the time I had done the turbo it was a lovely day.
