I shouldn't do this!

I sometimes get drawn into debates on cycling with non-cyclists when I know it probably isn't going to help very much. This is one such which started well but I have a feeling will turn out badly

"Did you know that cycles played an unwitting role in the development of the road network? And that CTC was one of the prime movers in the move towards paved roads? Carlton Reid’s fascinating new book ‘Roads Were Not Built for Cars’ examines the history of motoring from a cyclist's perspective."

Don't do it Alan. It's like trying to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Some people do really believe that when they pop to the garden centre in their car, they have a right not to be delayed even by a few seconds.
