Roll Up Roll Up The Reliability Trials are here........

First one on 15th

15/1/06 West Kent RC
Horton Kirby Cricket Club, Franks Lane, Horton Kirby, Kent.
95k starting from 0900hrs and 50k starting from 1000hrs.
£5.00 entry on day, all proceeds to a selected charity.
Event secretary: John Tisdell 0208 304 0832

It is 21 miles according to the AA from my house (croydon) to the start. So probably a bit far to cycle there and back.

Anyone facny it? I need to get fit for Majorca and fast so I'll be there.

Cheers

I might be up for this. I'm not training for Majorca though and with a CR on Saturday I might only be up/fit enough for the 50k run unless I take it easy on the 95K.

Any other non-racers/less fit doing the 50 or a very steady 95?

Do you need to register in advance?

In a nutshell, reliability rides are glorified club runs, open to anyone who turns up on the day and pays the entry fee. In return you get a route description and/or map, and usually some refreshments en-route, and a certificate when you finish. Ride on your own or in a group at any pace from a gentle dawdle to full on road race pace.

Andrew don't worry it is not very hilly apparently and I am not what you would term a racer. I can happy going along at a sedate pace.

I guess we could cycle over there from Croydon and do the 50k then cycle back. That would be more than enough for me. If it was very tiring then we could get the train home.

Let me know. So far have Robbie and myself leaving from Croydon.

Cheers

I'm seriously thinking about it. I live in T.Heath so could meet in Croydon.
Do you just turn up with your fiver or do you need to register? I've never done anything like this before so all help will be appreciated.

Gavin, thanks for the info & help.

As long as it isn't chucking it down I'm up for this. I need to improve my fitness and stamina, I might do the Eastbourne ride as well.

I'll make sure I have train fare on both days though in case my legs and lungs let me down and I need to bail out on the way back.

I live near Selsdon so depending which way you ride out I might meet you enroute to save going in and out of Croydon.

Thanks,

Andrew.

So so far we have for the 15th Jan....

Robbie
Andrew
Jon Avery
Sean
Gavin

Leaving from Croydon heading out towards Bromley so we can pick people up on the way if people on the way.

If we are going for the 50k then it starts at 10am. We should probably leave at 8.15 to make sure we get there on time.

Considering peoples time keeping I suggest Sean and Robbie aim for 8am.

Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers

For the Horton Kirby starts, the route I have taken before (from Beckenham) is via Bromley, Chislehurst, Foots Cray & Swanley.

For the Knockholt/Halstead starts, the route from Croydon is pretty direct along the A232 & A21. An intermediate stop at The Swan in West Wickham would allow others to join on.

Reliability

Postby Graham O » Sun Jan 08, 2006 5:08 pm

Chaps,

I'm up for this as well. I do quite fancy the long ride though. I live in west wickham, which is on the way from Croydon to Bromley. If you are coming along my way, then I could tag along.

Ta,

Graham.
