Addiscombe 10s

I've been out on the ACC CR a few times, nothing too strenuous, mind. I'm not a member, but I'd like to test myself in some of the club's 10s...

Can I do this? I'm not a member of BCF or anything like that either. I imagine a fee to enter would be needed? Really, I'm just interested in seeing what time I can clock...

well, let me take you back, many a years now, when i was only a nipper, i didnt have much, a trusty steed by the name of cannondale, he was a rather lovely mountain bike, not your typical tt bike.....i asked my dad for some pocket money, and he laced my palm with £1(the joy of being a junior)

id never raced before, had no insurance, no bcf licence, not even any cycling shoes.....i turned up in my nike astro turf and some jolly fine british airways socks..(and some lycra)

anyway, to cut a long unfunny boring story short, just let someone know in the addiscombe(preferably the TT organiser) that you want to race so you can be allicated a time, turn up an hour before your time(gives allowences for hickups on your behalf) have a fun time riding as hard as you can, then at the end, pay ya small fee....yes it really is that simple!

hope that helps

You can only ride club 10s which are specifically designated "come and try it" events if you are a non-member. I don't know if any of this years club 10s are designated as such.

Otherwise just join, it's a very reasonable £20 and with a £1 or so entry fee for 6 club 10s it works out at just over £4 a race. If you improve over the year you will be in with a shout of winning one of the many handicap prizes for each event - it doesn't matter how fast you are just how much you improve.

OK, two differing accounts, but I don't mind forking out money anyway; it's only fair.

When is the first one by the way? And where? Holmwood?

Andy

This year's dates are:

6 June,
20 June,
27 June - Jack & Jill,
10 July Inter club - NP
25 July
16 Sep Presidents 10:00am

All 7.30pm apart from the President's. The "Jack & Jill" is designated for a mixed 2-up but I am sure individuals will be able to ride as well. The inter-club is a competition against the Norwood Paragon, the more ACC riders the better.

They are all on the Holmwood course.

If you want to ride then you should let Tim Coales know (about a week in advance) but if you don't you can usually get a ride if you turn up on the evening. He should also be able to tell you whether any of the events are 'come and try it' events. If you don't have his contact details let me know and I'll dig them out.
