Herne Hill open for business

Postby richv » Wed Mar 08, 2006 4:52 pm

Herne Hill track will open for the Summer Season from 11th March 8)

Session Times will be:

Induction 9.00 - 10.30 (£3)
General Training 10.30 - 13.00 (£6)

If you have never tried riding on a track it is well worth a go. If you go down to the induction you will receive a thorough introduction in relative peace and if you get the hang of things you can stay on and try the general training session which will get you used to riding in larger groups and at faster speeds on the track.

Bike hire will be free of charge this year :D

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask/contact me.

Mid-week training sessions are expected to start in the week commencing 27th March - more details when this is confirmed.

Want to try the track this year so will get down there soon. No brakes

Do I take my own pedals for the hire bike?
How intensive are these sessions? are there breaks?
4 hrs on fixed could be a bit much in one go, would you recommend going for an induction one week and then back for the training another?

Sorry for the number of questions :D

Thanks,
Andrew.

Andrew

The induction sessions are very gentle. They get people up one or two at a time to start with (so that you're not too crowded) so there is a bit of sitting around whilst others have a go.

The training sessions are significantly more work but they rarely start on time so are unlikely to last the full 2.5 hours.

If you're happy on the medium club run then you'd be fine doing one after the other (and you only have to pay an extra £3 for the training session).

Even if you find it a bit much you can always drop out and then join back in which is one of the benefits or riding on the track

I would go down to an induction session and see how you get on. If you're happy at the end of it then stay on for the training.
