Mid week ride (Tues, Wed)

Postby Gavin » Mon Mar 27, 2006 3:09 pm

After attracting a huge interest for a sunday ride I thought I would try my look at a midweek late afternoon / early evening ride.

Was at work at 6am this morning so have a couple of hours off.

Thinking about leaving croydon 4.30/5 and riding for 2 hours till 7pm.

Gets dark at 7.26pm tomorrow.

Anyone fancy it?

Cheers

could do westerham but depends on who wants to go out.

5.15 could be a bit late in croydon. I was hoping to get 2 hours in daylight.

Thats right AJ won last year and has a lot of pressure on him as he lost a couple at the end of last year but still he has a new bike and a new commitment so we'll have to wait and see.

I haven't been that well recently so it should be interesting.....

Cheers

Well the saturday before last (18th), i was out on the CR.

Went back via Box Hill with the crowd, Ajay was there, i led onto the zig zag road. Looked over my shoulder and saw the bunch had already strung out, but slowed a little to see who wanted to make the pace. Nobody came through, so i just put my head down and rode. Halfway to the first hairpin there were five or six guys behind me, most notably kevin on that sleek specialised machine. But as i rounded the first hairpin i checked again, and there was a good ten meters between me and the next rider.

Up-hill sprint, mano a mano, you say;

Where did everybody go then!?

So i pressed on and was at the top with about 45 seconds up on second place, who was a rider who i dont know (sorry!).

Even had time to go to the toilet before Monty made the summit

Well i guess i do have the unfair advantage of riding it EVERY time i go riding since i only live in Epsom. (Awsome tailwind blew me home this afternoon!)

Looking forward to the next time i can make it to the CR to see if i just cought everyone on a bad day!?

8) Nice work Adam. I've been saving myself Huw ! Do you every get the feeling that you've peaked  a bit early ! Its a long year ahead and there is a satisfying feeling about starting at the back of the pack, and picking off riders one by one :!: as the sun comes out ! You are number 29 on the list in the month of July.

Peaked? - Haven't even started yet! Best of luck in Flanders mate, a good ride there could kick-start your season.
