Sportive Training - Wednesday 5th

Postby huw williams » Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:15 am

As promised Sportive preperation rides start here.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 5th) - 5.30 prompt start from Geoffrey Butlers

2 hours, slow pace but very hilly. Should be back at GBs by about 7.30

Faster riders welcome to come along but this ride is intended to get some of our sportive novices used to riding on tough hills, so the average speed will be low.

Can't get there for a 5.30 start? Don't worry. In the coming weeks we'll start later and later as the evenings get lighter.

Post reply here if you're able to make it

So that's not your 1h hilly loop that you can tag along for the second of at 6.30pm?

No, but that ride will certainly be starting too in a couple of weeks, giving people the option of starting at 5.30, 6.30 or 7.30 for either 3, 2, or 1 lap of a hilly 19 mile loop. Watch this space.

last time i went up Succombes Hill, i got to the top where it kinks left, wasnt finding it hard at all, and my bloody chain snapped!...so chaps, if you do take this route, make sure your chain is in good working order, oiled, and ready to take alot of pressure, because unless tim harris is around to tow you home on his seat post, you may be in a spot of bother!

Definitely not Succumbs - but Slines Oak and Chalkpits will be in there - you have been warned!

Interesting choices Hugh  That long drag from Oxted up to the side of the chalkpit before the climb proper (up Chalkpits) takes more out of the legs than you realise, particularly if towards the end of a long ride.

That would be too easy - back via White Hill (Bec CC hill-climb) then Bug Hill, then we'll see how much light (and motivation) is left
