18 May Handicap Race Newchapel Village Hall

Postby siwickm » Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:49 pm

Hello All,

Addiscombe promote one Handicap road race every year. This year it is taking place on Thursday 18th May. The race starts at 7.15pm in the evening and usually last around an hour or so. The race start is at Newchapel Village Hall which is just off the A22 near East Grinstead.

The Handicap races are excellent fun to watch as you effectively get to see a number of races within an overall race as different ability groups are set off at different times. The later groups have to catch the earlier ones etc and then it is a free for all at the end.

I am promoting the race this year and therefore need to sign some of you up to help me out in marshalling and making sure the race is run in a smooth manner.

What we need are a few people to help out on the corners on the circuit to make sure the race can go through safely. We will also need a couple of people who can drive their cars to warn on-coming drivers of the race approaching.

Please could you post on the forum or PM me if you will be able to assist so I know how many helpers I have got. If you would like to drive then could you let me know your registration number for insurance purposes.

Tea and cakes will be on offer after the race so that may be an incentive to all you tea and cake lovers.

Hope you can all help me out.

Cheers

Marek....

So far I have a grand total of 4 volunteers to help marshal the road race in May. I could do with another 6 volunteers so if you are available to help me out it would be much appreciated.

My email is:

If all marshalls could arrive at Newchapel Village Hall for around 6.30pm that would be great. Anyone who is intending to Marshall if you could let me know if you have not already so that I know that I have enough people.

Cheers

I cant believe that every single person in the club is that busy - so far Marek has only got 7 marshalls and that includes his mum and dad! I really think some people- no make that most people in the club -are just bloody selfish and never lift a finger to help, but are only too happy to tag along on the club run- its your bloody club that is promoting this event, yet i am sure some people will say " no one told me " -"i didnt know" buffalo dust mate  you have only got to give up 2 of your precious hours- sometimes people can make you very mad- so get up off your ass and do something about it.

Just a note to say thanks to Merek, Ajay and all the marshalls that turned out on a windy and a slightly rainy evening for a great race.

Tea and cakes provided by JKeith and Joyce again and again they were much appreciated, particularly when Keith came round another 3 times and offered up the scraps at the end.

Lisa also thanks Keith Knight for chat and words of encouragement on the way round (and all the other marshals, Ian, Jo, Sylv ... Just a bit more help next time with a bit of drafting from the motorbike!!

Cheers all
