ToSH this weekend - 15th

Postby huw williams » Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:34 am

Weather forecast for the entire bank hols weekend is a balmy 14degrees, dry with light winds

Hearne Hill Friday - Tour of Surrey Hills & Club Run Saturday - Brighton & back Monday

ToSH - Looks good to go on Saturday despite the fact that I have no legs after last night. The pace will therefore be much more relaxed!!!

IMPORTANT! Anyone coming can you please post here so I can print off maps for you. This also allows you to do just part of the ride if you can't manage the whole thing.

Strict Audax rules apply: ie you get a map and are expected to find your own way around should you blow to bits up Winterfold.

DONT PANIC - There's always a main group going round at a steady 17mph, faster guys can tear it up off the front with Marek, slower guys normally find themselves in smaller groups.

Start: CSS, 9.15 with the club run, stopping at Reigate Common (In the lay-by at the left turn off the main road)

Lunch stop will be at Shere (around 12 noon), if you want to miss out a few hills, check the map and meet us there

ESSENTIAL: Take plenty to eat and drink - ask anyone who's 'blown' on the hills and they'll tell you how bad it is getting to the end.

Should be a great day, see you saturday.

I plan to do this Huw -I thought that the pace last night was quite brisk and I got the jelly legs for the first time in a long time but felt reasonably strong right up until the end. I had done 130 K on Tuesday so today is complete rest and maybe a spin out to Herne Hill on Friday. Went to Crystal palace sports injury clinic this morning for them to do some work on my neck following my fall in the ditch a couple of months ago - that place is great and the work out on my neck and shoulders has already improved its mobility. Thanks for organising these events.

Best wishes

Alan

I'd pay good money to see Simon J ride round the Surrey Hills!

Hi Huw,

Sorry I am not in London this w/e so will not be able to make the ride around Surrey Hills. I hope to sample a few hills while I'm away though, so I will get my share of pain !

Happy Grimping !

Hi Huw,

count me in as long as someone rides behind me to pick my legs
and lungs up off the road on the way back
