I'm not sure. But seeing as ACC don't have an official end of season 'hill climb' why don't we set a date an organise one for perhaps October. The chosen hill should of course be Box Hill

Addiscombe C.C Box Hill TT
E/1/2/3/4/Everyone
Saturday 30th September 2006 @ 12 p.m
---------------

Sounds good?

Toks be carful though this could be another trophy for those pesky TT riders as if they don't get enough. You would have to make sure a real racer won .........

I haven't timed myself, but the fixed gear is much the quickest way up. (This is where the twiddlers amongst you tell me I'm wrong!) Gavin, I reckon you could be in with a shout!

Seemed to be around the 6 min mark the last couple times I went up it.

A climbing race would be different though - out of the saddle from the go!

Reminds me of a crazy Swiss website where a guy built a mountain bike specifically for climbing races - no front brake, single ring, very very light too.

I am suggesting a TT just that toks better make sure a racer wins it and not a TT specialist as they win all the awards anyway at the annual dinner.

Come on the racers..............

You might as well just engrave "Tony Kelly" on the trophy now.

Good point about the legality Marco; we can't just go and hold a race/TT anywhere we like whenever we feel like it. The first thing to check would be whether Box Hill is approved as a hill climb course. If it is, then all we need to do is get the OK from the CTT London South district committee to hold a club event on the date we want, and send the police notification form in about 8 weeks prior to the event. If Box Hill isn't already approved then we can either do the risk assesment, course measuring and course description to get it approved, or just hold it somewhere else on a course that's already approved. As the clubs time trial secretary I'll do the necessary investigations (even if Gavin doesn't want a TT rider to win  ).

As climbs go Box Hill isn't all that steep anyway ...

Box Hill !!!

Box Hill Dont think so !!! Think an Up hill Down Hill event would be better And could use Tilburstow Hill -- Start at top away from Godstone - Down to Blindley Heath -- Then Time each Rider up. ( Would give all a chance )
Lots of other Hills could be used traffic free
Also think this is SHOULD be discused at nexed Addiscombe Committee meeting

I agree that Box Hill is too busy (other cyclists as well as cars) for an ACC Hill Climb, but an "up hill - down hill" sounds like a good idea. There should be some good competition in the club with all these sportive riders getting plenty of practice. Even if you don't participate I can confirm from seeing the Bec CC hill climb on White Hill watching/cheering whilst others suffer is good fun.

just a tt. it was from the car park before the first hair pin, and it went to a car park which was about 200 metres down from the trust cafe up the top, so just past the look out point.

the day the 3 day kicked off it was stormy and awful weather, which im sure helped to keep traffic down!

Just a little thought. The Redmon have an end of season Hill Climb up Ranmore. I`m sure we could combine the event with theirs, plus a little friendly competition.
