Jack and Jill Time Trial - 7.30pm, 27th June @ Holmwood

Postby Maria David » Fri Jun 02, 2006 1:24 pm

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note letting you know that the 2nd running of the annual Jack and Jill time trial will be taking place at the end of the month.

Last year's event proved to be successful, with 10 pairs racing, and some interesting results displayed - as well as interesting prizes being given out.

Basically it's a 10 mile time trial on the usual 10mile course at Holmwood. (out and back). Male/female pairs, with the woman drafting off the man all the way round. Results are difficult to predict given the various dynamics between pairs, so it's a chance for unexpected glory for a few.

The event is then followed by a social at a local restaurant.

So if you'd like a partner for 27th of June register your interest and I'll find you a mate.
Note, inividual time trialling will also be taking place on this evening, so you are free to go it alone too - of course you will not be eligible for the prizes !

I will be at Coulsdon tomorrow to take down names and clarify whatever needs to be clarified.

Cheers,

Maria

We've had a number of takers for this event. Feel free to add your name to the list - either as a Jack with/requesting a Jill, or as an individual.

Jacks so far : Grant Barnes, Sean Hogan, Keith Knight, Toks Adesanya, Ian Munnery

Jills so far : Kirsty Reuby, Amy Robinson, Joanne Monghan, Jo Cushway, Eddie Brocklesby

The pairs will be announced over the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Maria

Can I be put on the reserve Jack list.........

I could be a Jack but bear in mind that I have never ridden a time trial and get tired really easily!

Gavin, I haven't put you on the reserve list - I've put you on THE list ! :o
We'll get you a suitable Jill, no worries.

Toks, shame you won't be able to defend your Crown. Mind you, I'm sure you'll pick up prizes elsewhere this season. :D

When I first read Gavin's post, I thought it said he wanted to be a 'reverse' Jack. I wondered if there was some weird surgery going on  !

Anyway, put me down on the list (I think). Jill required. Must be willing not to show me up and have a GSOH.

Last year, we all went for a pizza in Dorking after the ride. Would people be up for something similar again this year?

Maria, you can add me to your list if needed. Can I claim equal ops and draft Jill? :)

Andrew.

Ok, Andrew and Mike - I've put you down on the list. Will let you know who your Jills are shortly.
Equal ops ? No, I'm just happy to get gentlemen that will tow us round !

We hope to have a social afterwards that will include everyone involved on the night - pairs and individual riders.

Cheers,

Maria

I should be OK for this.

So, if a Jill needs a Jack who's fairly slow, but steady and makes a big hole in the air....

Here are the pairs so far :

Amy Robinson/Keith Knight
Lisa and Chris Scarlett
Jo Monaghan and Sean Hogan
Christine and Nigel Costiff
Geraldine Glowinski and Mike Ingram
Jo Cushway/Ian Munnery
Kirsty Reuby/Grant Barnes
Maria David/Jon Hemming

You may want to practice your drafting if you haven't ridden together yet.
I am still working on forming more pairs so bear with me if your name does not appear on the list.

Maria

Revised domestic arrangements (wife's new job, basically) have left me in charge of childcare, and I'm going to struggle to get to any evening 10s this year. Apologies to you and to Geraldine - who at least can now look around for a quicker, bulkier and more reliable Jack. Good luck. And stick a fiver each way on Chris and Lisa for me!

As I said on Saturday, it seems to be a bit too far for me to be able to get to the course after work in the wild east. So please strike me from the list.

Sorry,

Grahame

Ok guys - apologies accepted :

Gavin you are next in line. Do you want to be Geraldine's partner, or are you still wanting to be reserve ? In which case it'll be down to Andrew Green. Let me know asap.
Note : Geraldine has been doing track cycling so won't be hanging about. Her pairing could well be in the money !

NOTE : ANYONE NOT IN A PAIR CAN STILL ENTER THIS EVENT AND DO IT AS AN INDIVIDUAL 10 MILE TT.
