Saturday long ride

Postby Ian A4size » Fri Jun 09, 2006 12:56 pm

Anyone interested in a long  ride, leaving feathers at 8-30, approx 90 miles, some hills, idea is just to keep going- lisa is doing a 100 time trial soon so she needs help and encouragement.

I'd definitely be up for that, Ian. For me, the earlier we start, the better.

I'll come along Bus, if I can get my rs into gear to be there in time. If I'm not there by 8.30, presume I'm not coming.

David.

Not an England fan either, but still want to be back for the game if poss. The prospect of quiet roads on the way back into town is quite appealing, though.

The feathers is on the clubrun route, it is a large pub on a sharp bend, it is just over the motorway bridge on your left- it is approx 4 miles from CSS, in merstham

Would have liked to part-take, but I'll be on my way up to the Yorkshire Dales tmw for a cyclosportive.

Enjoy your ride !

Good ride today just shy of 100 miles for me.

It was a really hot day today and had to put on factor 50 suncream twice.

Cheers

Yep, really good ride yesterday. Got home with 97 miles on the clock. Had no inclination to ride around any more to notch up the extra three - was pretty much all in and found it a real struggle coming back from Croydon. David and Mark were in sight up ahead all the way from Merstham, but were always one traffic light in front so I never caught them up.

Lovely route along rhodedendrum(sp?)-lined lanes in fabulous weather. Managed to avoid getting burnt by means of copious application of 30+ cream and judicious use of a hastily-fashioned bandana. Couldn't possibly have eaten or drunk any more but still ran out of steam a bit. Let's hope it's a bit cooler next weekend in the Cotswolds.

Thanks again to Ian for organising this and to everyone that came along.

A really nice ride in the sun. Good crowd, steady pace and ice tea and a Pasta Di Nata to finish it off. 97 miles for me too, average of 18mph.

Followed it up with a solo 60 mile ride to Whitstable via Rochester yesterday. I believe I was on the road that the first part of next year's 1st stage of the Tour will take, I just hope they re-surface it before then.

Always nice to end a ride with a swim in the sea and a picnic on the beach!
