Wheee! that was fun with a capital F

Great combined leading from just about everybody. I think each of us was thinking "Wherethefugarewe? Oh, we're here" at several points.

Good, steady pace with no real lingering and no complaining at all.

Must do that again.

Man, If I hadn't been on that ride I think I'd be biting my lips now after having read that!

Here's a few photos to give you an idea of what it's all about. OK, so it's not too technical, no 45 deg slopes (unless you count the steps below riddlestown common) but just a chilled out traffic free ride with that countryside feel.

PS Most of the photos were taken on the move so while there were plenty shady wooded trails and a few rocky and rooty stretches, they weren't easy enough to cycle down them with the camera in one hand in front of me.

PPS Congratulations Simon, I didn't realise you had won the Beastway singlespeed. I remember you overtaking me on the singlespeed a few weeks ago not only using that one gear but also holding a converstaion with the person behind you. It makes me feel a little better that at least I was passed by the eventual winner.

There's slighly better quality versions on http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/3615022. (Not sure why but they don't show up when I reference them directly.)

That last one you can see I was trying to keep up with Marco on that 40mph downhill!

Great ride

Postby sid_day » Mon Jul 31, 2006 12:23 pm

That was a really really memorable ride.
Good company, good weather, no idea where I was a lot of the time.
Bit stuck for words really.

Two images that stick my mind:

The break in the trees and view at the point we filled up for water.
The sight of the deer skipping through the wheat.

The added bonus of staying out of the car and just riding from home is going to see me on many more Sunday rides.

It was a great ride to completely relax and switch off, just why I ride my bike.

Good photos Aodan and thanks for the congrats. I'm just lucky Graham Pentney didn't turn up earlier in the series and Sylvain decided to race Masters!
