I heard from Sylvain via text message late last night - he just missed out on a podium place, finishing 4th.






But, still, 4th fastest singlespeed mountainbiker in the world . And no performance enhancing drugs involved .



So I think a large "Chapeaux" is in order.

I think the Singlespeed World Champs are going to be in Scotland next year. Anybody fancy a club trip?

Without Beastway to distract him, perhaps Sylv could put in some quality training and make a proper bid for the tattoo...

sylv's already won the singlespeed champs

can't remember whether it was world or euro champs, but it was in afan a few years ago

there must be other races left for him to win?!

if not, we'll have to invent something new

I haven't seen a tattoo on (the publicly visible bits) of Sylv, so I'm guessing it was the UK SS champs that he won (last year?) - he wrote it up for one of the french VTT mags, I have a copy at home.

Thanks all, just got back from Sweden via Danemark, Germany, Belgium and France tonight.

Will, it was the Worlds in Wales five years ago (you might remember, you were there!) and I got 4th, but that was among mainly UK and even Welsh riders, who had bothered to turn up. The UK Champs were last year but again this was won among mainly local guys.

In Stockholm, the top five guys went like this: Norway, Sweden, USA, UK ( ) and USA. So I think this was the one I'll be the happiest about . The riding just out of town was unbelievable, technical and unforgiving.

Should have loads of my own pics and maybe some report in the near future. Off Friday again though.

Oh, and who do we bump into when we get to the ship/youth hostel in Stockholm harbour? Cushtie and Toby from Folkestone! Can you spot them here?
