THE ACC MEMBERS ONLY ROAD RACE IS THIS SUNDAY!!!!!

Postby Toks » Tue Sep 19, 2006 9:46 am

Appologies once again for 'banging' on about the race. Despite lots of posts and campaigning from Sean and myself I was surprised on saturday to find out that quite a few people had know idea about the race - this Sunday 24th September at Eastway...... RACERS PLEASE GET THERE AT 1.30!!!!

Last year some people never knew about the club Road Race which was a shame! So whether you can make it or not do me a favour...SPREAD THE WORD...SPREAD THE WORD...SPREAD THE WORD...SPREAD THE WORD
Big thanks, Toks :D

ACC Road Race

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Sat Sep 23, 2006 6:30 pm

Toks,
You are misleading people a bit in that they MUST be BC members ro race. The club are in the position to have a number of "free" memberships, so hopefully everyone can be accomodated on the day, otherwise they WILL have to pay for a DAY LICENCE.
Sorry, but they are the rules.

I found this info on the Redbridge cycling site if its any help

By virtue of the Club's Membership of British Cycling (B.C.F.), all Club Members who affiliate to British Cycling (current cost £58.00, £32.00 or £11.50,) can take out a Racing Licence (current cost £30) and then enter British Cycling events on the Road or Closed Circuits.

Alternatively, Day Licences are available at an event. British Cycling Members pay as follows: Juniors £6.00; Seniors and Veterans £10.00. Non British Cycling Members' rates are: Juniors £7.00; Seniors and Veterans £12.00. In each case the entry fee for the event has to be paid as well.

In addition to this, there are Beginners' Events at Eastway where a British Cycling Licence is not required.

My understanding was that it was just for fun he bcf are not involved in any way and because there are no points involved we did not need a day licience. A bit like a the training sessions at hillingdon? nothing too serious

I just got this message so I'm a litttle confused. Last year quite a few novices showed up for the race and raced without licenses. As Kevin said this is just a bit of fun with the club. I'm not even sure if everyone (novices that is) will actually be 'really' be attempting to race. People have known about this for quite a while its a shame that its only just come out now. :( If you're a novice don't buy a license. Hopefully we can just treat it as a training session. Its my fault I'm really really sorry. I tried to make all the relevant people aware of the situation so I thought it would be ok :(

I don't think you need a licence for this. It is not a BCF event, it is a club sponsored event. Last year I don't think I bought my licence with me and it was fine, I don't remember anyone having to buy a day licence.

Paul are you sure about this considering it is a novices club sponsored event?

so how did it go?

i wrote to bcf last year and got in in writing, because acc was a bcf club, and it was an event not on roads and open to acc members only..you didnt need a license.

30 people were covered on acc insurance..then after 30 people, we had to pay £1.50 per rider.....we didnt reach 30 people....but you defo didnt need a bcf license...maybe the rules changed..anyway, how did it go?
