From today's Sun (don't have a go, I don't buy it there was a link on another forum).

[quote]A RACE mechanic is fighting to overturn a motoring fine he was given DURING a cycle event.

Andy Verrall, 42, was driving an official team support car behind riders at the Lincoln Grand Prix cycle race in May.

He was stunned when a cop stopped him on the eighth lap and issued him with a £60 fixed penalty and three points for crossing a double white line.

Mr Verrall, of Falmouth, Cornwall, believes normal driving rules did not apply as the road was closed off for the race.

He said: “I thought it was a joke. The policeman had no idea.”

Roll on the Olympic road race. :D

latest news is he took the case up himself, got some help from some senior BC officials (going against the main consensus) cycle friendly lawyers and the CPS have dropped the case as not in the public's interest. So no fine to pay.
