Decided to go out with Gentlemans 16 mph group as I wished to save myself for tomorrows Kent RR. Just sitting on the back was my plan, not even going for the sprint, all well until Alex had a puncture I stopped and gave Alex a hand not that he needed one as by the time i'd blinked, Wheel out, tyre half off rim new tube out. Then along came Robert? Im sure thats him. WE set off took a small short cut or 2 so as to join the CR well we got to the cafe before them :D . NO queue Great :D . I left the cafe on my own as I had other arrangements and rode soley most of the way until a small group caught me just before the church climbs I let them have their glory and just tapped out a slower pace, I caught most of them up by the time I got to Coulsdon so was very pleased with myself.

Looking forward to the Catford.C.C. RR tomorrow.
See you guys there.

Nick.

Planed a steady ride today for the same reasons. Went in a 17 with Monty and co. Nice steady pace and kept in on the small ring to save my legs.
Coming back, again kept it fairly steady spinning as much as poss. Picked it up towards the end as I can't help myself when you come off the crest of the Merstham drag. :)
Obviously a lot of rubbish on the road today as my bike was filthy when I got back. Bike cleaned and ready for tomorrow, just hope I am :D .
See you tomorrow Nick, and all the others doing the Catford Reliability.

just george pual and i today up for a training ride, ray was a bit ill so he did not join us.

set off at a good pace, but i was feeling a bit under trained because of the racing the last couple of weeks, only 20 od miles, so not a proper work out.

paul and george did most of the work untill leigh, when george did almost all the work from there untill the deul carriage way.staretd the through and off, though rather slowly. i probably was not coming through as quickely as i should of  , but i was feeling a little unfit. to the sprint george sacrafised himself, i went with 2 corners to go (i thought it was the last corner  ) but as soon as we turned it and i saw the next one i new i had had it....towards the end paul easily nipped past me...another 2nd

went back via box hill with ray, george, paul and kieren. i was not feeling too confident as i was on my steel bike with hardly any gears. but i just told myself to keep a steady rythem. it worked ok, and i stayed with george and paul untill about half way up the second streight. i was going a reasonable pace, but always frightfully aware keiren was right on my wheel!! up to the top and round the last bend i got out the saddle to give it one last push, managed to hold off kieren.

fast ride along the main road. i got dropped going down the hill towards chipstead  . did some work with kieren to catch up george and paul but to no avail. then back home.

lovely day today, first dryish sunnyish clubrun for me in a while!

A good turnout for a fresh Saturday morning.

A returning member Toby arrived at the station eager for a good run but perhaps applied too much power down on his cranks resulting in a bit of a mess.

It's his wallet I feel sorry for....

Wow,
Bad for the wallet, but what credibility!
I hope he gets something from the manufacturers.

Well after the Christmas season my cold season started and carried on until the middle of last week. With the cold finally gone I could go out on the weekend again for my first ride since mid December (excluding MTB commuting)! As usual I got to CSS too late; I caught up with the 15mph (?) group later on just after Reigate and stayed with them all the way to the café. At the café I sat down at the training groups table (the only free seat left ;) by the time I got served) and got talked into going with them via box hill but only after getting reassurances that they wouldn’t be going too hard. Anyway I took my turn up front, first with Ray and then with Paul, later dropping back to let the others through, Paul dropped back as well saying he was also tired (I think this was a ploy as later events would seem to indicate). Anyway we got to box hill and broke into 3 groups Paul and George up front, me and Stu next and Ray behind (suffering from some illness I believe – rest up !). George and Paul battled it out just within sight of us with Paul getting victory at the top, then Stu lead me in. I think this was a case of me fighting not to be dropped by Stu (my bpm was > 192 on the hill!) and Stu fighting to stay in front so we motivated each other! After a good rest we set off home and again Paul and George took the lead and eventually they dropped us but kept in sight just to tease me and Stu. Caught up with them at Coulsdon and headed to Croydon with George. My fuel tanks (legs) were feeling very empty by now and I was not looking forward to Crystal Palace hill. I had to stop before it and raid a sweet shop for a snickers bar and lucozade (?) drink and again at the top this time for some healthier snacks from Planta. I got home with totally dead legs but feeling happy that I hadn’t dropped too much form over the ‘rest’ period.
