Its the third of the reliability runs this weekend. I guess that lots of folk are doing the hilly 50 on Saturday; but has anyone done this.

Does anyone know the route and whether its well signposted. I am quite tempted to bag all three kentish reliability rides this year.

Any other takers ??

The Sydenham is traditionally the fastest of the three and its a bit longer than the other two. It's tough cos it starts like last week down Poll Hill to Brastead then goes straight up Ide Hill, down the other side and into Penshurst. Up the same draggy climbs of last week, through Fordcombe, down Groombridge before turning left through the badlands of Lamberhurst and Goudhurst.

It's never been signposted in the past and its pretty desolate out that side of Tunbridge Wells (Vultures sitting on the fence posts, tumbleweed etc) so make sure you're with a group containing someone who knows the route - there's normally plenty of Sydenham riders out who know it.

The checkpoint is at Style Bridge then the real fun begins - Lynton Hill and the climb at Merreworth woods is where the serious attacks normally go and there's usually a group flying along the pilgrimms way (in the other direction from last sunday) for a last hurrah through Otford and up Star Hill.

It hurts just thinking about it!

Thanks for the hints and it looks like quite a ride. It looks like some of the country that the TDF will go through. Think that I will give it a go, if I can transfer my pass to Sunday.

Once these are out of the way, its time to start thinking about 4th cat races. I have recieved my license now.
