Paul Tunnell is your host for a trip to Brighton and back. A route we love so much he's doing it twice!

Tomorrow is the first opportunity - an 8.30 start at CSS.
As this clashes with the Hilly 50 and there's a reliability ride on sunday - Paul is offering another chance to do it the following saturday, 23rd, same time same place

Weather permitting on both occasions of course

Paul's route is excellent and takes in Ditchling Beacon, so I'd reccommend it to anyone preparing for sportives this summer

Actually I think the correct dates are 17th and 24th - but same rules and times apply

I'm away for a week so will miss both the Brighton rides.

This is one I'd like to have a go at. Is it likely to be done again soon ?

C-B-C Part 1
[quote]I think Brighton ride went really well. Bit apprehensive at start when saw Tim Harris, Jack (chisholm?) and Rob (?). Paul the other Pearson came up, then Richard Viney. That was the 6 of us and I was sure I would be the slowest.

We set off down A23 over Redhill, then turned off through the lanes to Small fields, Turners Hill, then via Sharpthorne. Long long descent, round to Plumptom, into Ditchling and over the Beacon. Didn't suffer as much as usual - was 4th up there, with both Richard and Paul behind!!!!!!

50mph descent then quick run in to Brighton.

Got some food form the café, but was mild enough to sit outside on the patio on the beach.

Returned via main road, then over Pyecombe, up to Ansty, Twineham, Wineham into Pease Pottage, then on towards Crawley, then Tim and Jack upped the pace, with Rob and I coming through, whilst Paul and Richard decided to ride at their own pace. We continued all the way round Gatwick airport at 27mph!!!! The speed was still high heading back up Redhill at which point my legs gave out and they went on. I kept going at around 18mph, and when I got to Purley, they caught me up - they had stopped in a petrol station to get food!! Comfortably kept up with them back to Croydon.

All enjoyed the ride.

We will be taking a different route next week.

Paul

PS
Total 106 miles 5:36 minutes riding time - 18.9mph average.

This Saturday should be fun then :D . Same 8:30 start from CSS.

Slight difference - as summer is here :-) we're starting at 9.00.

God alone knows what the 'different route' entails.
