Postby Andrew G » Sat Apr 14, 2007 5:12 pm

Afternoon chaps and chapesses, is anyone out tomorrow for a ride (Sean, did you say you were out?). I can meet more or less anwhere at anytime, I'm a flexible kind of fella  .

Would like to be back for Paris-Roubaix (3pm) but other than that the worlds my lobster.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Stuart, Simon H and myself are gonna do the clubrun tomorow if your up for it?

Or if the cafe isn't open on a sunday, then another route. Anyone know if the cafe opens on a sunday?

It will be a steadyish ride, say 19-20. All welcome! Come out and develop the tan, the forecast looks promising!

Good ride, good group. About 10 of us out so a good number. Quick pace as a lot of training group guys out, about 21 av by the cafe! I thought I'd signed up for a recovery ride  .

Chocolate refuel at the newsagents and head home. Grahame, Alan, Chris, Mark, and I went Redhill route, the rest took to Box Hill.

Thanks for the jaunt guys.

Mark had suffered on the odd occcaision, particularly when the road dragged uphill. Found out on the way home he normally rides with the 15s!!! Well done fantastic effort today, that was quite a step up, hope the legs don't hurt too much.

Forgot to add before that we passed a happy looking Marco on the run-in back to Croydon, on his way back from the MTB ride.

mark rides with the 15s!?!? he could go with the 19s at LEAST!

We had a nice ride back via box hill. paul and sylv did most of the work, then as we hit the bottom i came to the front until just before the second hair pin, then paul stomped down on his pedals and shot off. sylv came round me and i jumped on his wheel, he did a fairly long turn so i came through and did one. we were slowly gaining on paul at this point!! then sylv came round as we hit the woods and i only just clung onto him, this pulled us even closer to paul, now about 30m ahead. as we hit the speed bumps i came round sylv to take 2nd place, and about 20m behind paul! its the fastest i have ever gone up box hill, around the 15-16.5mph region!
mind you paul had done more work than anyone today and sat on the front almost the whole way to charlswood, and then did most of the work with slyv to the bottom of box hill...

my legs were feeling slightly jaded today from yesterdays exploits, i was feeling very sluggish on the flats, on the hills i felt ok though.

great suggestion andrew! i now have a very slight tan line on my legs 8)

cheers

great ride yesterday and Saturday !

after I left you guy's at Charlwood I headed south.. Took a few wrong turns after Handcross ( i think i saw the same mtb twice ! ) so when I got to Hickstead way i ended up joing the a23. The last few miles of the dual carriage way were very quick... Felt pretty good as I rolled into Brighton with the car traffic at a standstill.. Had a nice bit of fish n chips, then headed along the coast to Worthing.. After treating myself to an ice cream I turned inland for home.. Came back on the main road (A24 ?) all the way which was v quick in places. Got up Box Hill very slowly and then done the club route run to Coulsdon for the final drag up past the church and then the nice run down to Wallington /Carshalton..
arrived home happy but with painful legs and 131 miles on the clock ..

just about stayed awake for the paris - roubaix highlites but fell asleep after 10 minutes - woke up to see Sean 'o Grady lift the pave' trophy !
