Off to Sunny Spain? Try this ...

I was off on an Easter family (ie 'leave the bike at home') break last week and, after a bit of Googling and Dogpiling, found this site http://www.rio-frio.com. I wonder if they can find me a road bike for a day? I thought.

Indeed they could, and I met up with Mel last Saturday and spent a magnificent four or five hours riding up in the hills between Malaga and Loja. He turned out to be thoroughly agreeable company. As you might expect, it was pretty much traffic-free, great weather, silent apart from my wheezing up the hills and the gentle clang of goat-bells (and the occasional lonely goat-herd singing songs from the shows). All in all, a nice change from the thrash down to Charlwood.

Anyway, I thought their holidays looked pretty good too - tailor-made, road-biking, off-road, running, hill-walking, general fitness. You can even take a day off to gawp in wonder at the Alhambra in Granada or the Mezquita in Cordoba. And - if Sean gets a link up on the web-site - Agreeables can have a discount. Something to think about for your next training camp perhaps?

Since you'll want to know, the bike I used was a Cannondale with a 105 triple. It's ok though, because beneath my club jersey I was wearing my Campag Vest of Invincibility to protect me from the Forces of Darkness. And I checked the label - it's designed, engineered (no, really!) and made in Vicenza. That's in Italy.
