My CR was the best in ages, I went out with Major Monty ( He is so regimental with his Rotate calls and Keep tight and so on and rightly so).
I got myself into a postion that I would not take the front until after Lambs Green? but due to a couple of riders darting into the inside I found myself next to my lead out man Phil Nash. We battled the head wind and had a good ride after Partridge, whilst quickly approaching the sprint the likes of Major Monty and Alex P were trying to box me in with some quick calls for a rotate I did get on the inside but when the next call came I got back on the outside just behind another rider but was determined to say there and I did with some strong riding I found myself on the front and tried to the best of my capabilities to wear the pack down and string them out. This worked quite well and the the sprint was full on for quite some time I went past the Gates clocking over34mph all thanks to Alex P pushing me on my right shoulder.
Then came the call for Boxhill............I stood proud and finished at the back of the pack, the climb took 10.54 (sorry Alex wasn't as quick as you thought) the ride back was fast a furious in stages I managed to keep jumping from first group to the second group as I kept reminding myself I have another 18 miles after Coulsdon.
The last 18 miles was good for me as a SOLO ride I managed over 90 miles with a loop I had done in the morning an average speed of 18.3 for the day.
Now the down side.......
I streched when I got home and managed to lounge around for an hour the phone rang I jumped up to answer the DAMN thing a WHACK!!!! Cramp
kids thought it great to see dad writhing in pain the next 20 minutes were agony but hey the small price to pay for a day of FUN.
