mountain training camp...cols please

so im off on my family holiday.

this year we are off to france, and the pyrenese in particular, a place called Latoue which is near St-Gaudens, which is in the foothills of the pyrenese. foothills??? well more like the size of the brecon beacons or snowdonia.

anyways only a 15 mile ride south and ill reach the big mumma mountains. the only famous one i know that the tour de france sometimes does near me is the col du tourmalet. also the col du pyresaud (spelling!?!?!) is not too far from me

so can anyone let me know the names of some other well known climbs? it doesnt matter too much if there a bit far away as my mum n dad said they dont mind driving me nearer some of the further away climbs a couple of times.

cheers

http://www.steephill.tv/galleries/2005/high-pyrenees/

or, though it may be more difficult to follow:

Click on the climb and it gives the profile. The next box gives you the town from where the climb starts.

Have fun!

As it happens I'm planning a trip to the Pyrenees for later this summer and have just been looking at maps of the area.

Peyresourde is about 30 miles SW of St Gaudens. Col d'Aspin about 10 miles further on from there.

In actual fact the nearest cols to St Gaudens would be Col de Portet d'Aspet (15miles south of St Gaudens) and col des Ares plus the other cols that were on stage 15 of this year's tour (and the etape du tour).

For Tourmalet, col d'aubisque, and possibly col Marie Blanque you'd probably need to take the car - possibly to Lourdes, and ride from there.

Happy hols !
