Float Night

Wow!

I took my bike into work on la voiture and rode home. I work next to Gatwick airport and basically I tanked up the jolly old A23 to Coulsdon then veered off to Wallyville, the direct, non-scenic route.

What a wicked ride - I can't believe how much I enjoyed zipping along with the traffic, which was almost all exceedingly well behaved. They gave me room at narrow points on the road and no one tried to take me on a bend. Consequently I rattled along at a fair old whack by my standards, covering the 18 mile journey door to door in 1hr and 9 seconds, including stops for traffic lights etc.

Was it just me or was there hardly a breath of wind this evening...? Maybe, just maybe I caught the magick eternal tail wind all the way home...

It's bloody good FUN this cycling lark!

It was indeed a tail wind - a strong Southerly, and I had a good ride home too.

How did you get to work next day?

good question Guru Paul. I rode back in to work and lo - the tail wind must've swung round 180 degrees. I did the return leg in 55 mins knocking out a 19.3mph average

When I have to work at our Gatwick office I try to do so for two days on the bounce, drive in, ride home, ride in, drive home 8) . I would do the whole thing by bike but I carry a laptop and clothes etc.

Tidy
