1st long winter Club Run THIS SATURDAY

Postby huw williams » Wed Oct 31, 2007 7:25 pm

For anyone wanting to start long and steady winter rides the ball gets rolling this saturday

5 hours riding time, this format:

Arrive at CSS for 9 - 9.15 having already ridden for 1 hour
(your choice of routes - do more if you want)

1.30min to Charlwood with 18s group

30-45min loop instead of café stop ending back at Pine Cafe

2 hours to get home via an Outwood Windmill, Bletchingly, Farthing Down loop

Total 5 hours in the saddle (approx) NOT 2.5 hours in the saddle and 2 hours in various cafes ;-)

Following week - same but half an hour longer via a Rusper/Okley/Cranleigh/Brockham return loop

Week after that - same but half an hour longer, route TBA You get the picture, bit longer each week on varying routes but there will always be opportunities to go home early for all those people who have lives :-)

P.S. If its raining I'm staying in bed and doing a mental turbo session at lunchtime instead - 5 hours in the rain, in November, are you INSANE!

Feedback/questions/suggestions here please - if not see you on saturday.

Just to surprise Toks I'll be up for this from next week on. I was going to do CRs on fixed and extend to take up towards 100 mile mark, but will be up for some of these and go out on the fixie on Sunday.

Will probably alternate between these and "fixed Saturdays" to switch between the long ride being on fixed or gears.

Going to do CBC with Paul on Sunday this week, so will have to wait 'til next Saturday, but I'll join you in the Gentleman's 18 on my Touche.

Sounds good (apart from the 1h ride before the ride, I'll do my extra hour after if that's ok with you).

Not around this weekend but will do next.

There was too much going on in October and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it - Alps, Isle of Wight, Hillingdon, but now I'm taking some time off.

I'll be back, and will be doing LONG rides on Sundays.

Exactly! most of you have raced at least sixty times this season and some of you have been doing 20 hour training weeks what the hell are you resting for get riding now!!! Alternatively if you've only done a handful of sportivs and a half a dozen tt/rr don't start riding again until at January your body needs to recover. Andrew can you clear that one up for me I don't want to give out mixed messages
