Ride on Thursday 27th

Postby Phil L » Tue Dec 25, 2007 9:02 pm

Anyone up for a ride on Thursday to work off their Christmas over endulgences?

Suggest a 3 to 4 hour moderately paced ride over to the Surrey Hills starting 9:30am from CSS.

I could be up for this - I will look out for you Phil, around 9.10? Not if there is rain though.

Metcheck is not forecasting rain - so should be okay tomorrow.

See you all at 9.30 then at CSS (Alan at 9.10).

OK, looks good then - warmer than Saturday too. Maybe we can find a cafe stop around 11.30?

Good report Marco. Thanks All for the ride and help with punctures. Sorry I couldn't stay for coffee Pete but was I feeling a bit too tired and wanted to get home for lunch with the family. Hopefully the rain will stay away for Saturday.

Cheers

Didn't quite make it into to the heart of the Surrey Hills as per my initial suggestion, but very enjoyable ride nevertheless with great company. Bit concerned that we frightened Mark off - we only did two major hills in the end, with my total distance around 40 miles, and my total stopped time (punctures, cafe, Pete's place) almost equal to my riding time. So I am sure Mark would have been fine sticking with us in the end. Looking forward to the club run on Saturday, now that I have burnt off the equivalent of a dozen or two mince pies, including the one at Pete's house - many thanks again.

It was great, no pressure, apart from the mince pie bulges in my lycra! Very nice and friendly ride with good company thanks!

Excellent ride very well led by Phil. Discovered some nice quiet routes to my favourite part of Surrey rather than my usual hair-raising trips along A-roads. A couple of good climbs - the horror of Ranmore up the back of Denbies rewarded by a blast back to Dorking and a romp up Box Hill to a refreshing cuppa, while Marco in full recruiting-sergeant mode got 4 potential new members in the space of as many minutes.

Back along the ridge and down to Chipstead Valley saw the laws of physics that had helped me up the hills put me firmly in my place at the back of the pack. Then a couple more climbs back home, scarf down some more turkey and mince pies, and off to GB's to browse some late Christmas pressies to self.

Great idea of Marco's re club promotional material in the shop, more members for the club and it'll bring business to the shop.
