:(
coming down Beckenham hill at about, er, 40. car took a little longer to turn at the bottom than I anticipated. slippy road surface, minor swerve around and down I went.
Sliding with no obstacles to hit, luckilly I took most of the force and bike escaped relatively unscathed. Not quite sure how I've managed to remove the tops off both STI's. Or have scratches on the frame on the opposite side to the slide, but it was all happening rather quickly.

I know there's a tradition of pictures of naked flesh on here. :) but I'd rather not. suffice to say, standard thigh and elbow road rash. Holes in gloves, jacket, mid-layer, outer tights.

Mostly annoyed with myself. I'm off to have a bath.

Ouch! Hope you heal up soon.

Thank god it's nearly the end of this cursed month. PLEASE can everyone make an extra special effort to remain on their bikes and uninjured for the next 7 days!

and I was starting to feel back on track performance wise this morning. went up the punishing 20% Chalkpit lane this morning rather than Titsey hill (16 ish).

Anyway, what's everyone's favourite way of dressing road-rash? normally when I'm out and about I just liberally spray liquid plaster on it and once I've come back around after that I'm good to go.
Leave it to the fresh air? Lots of savlon and a dressing? fresh lyrcra and off again? :)

Ouch, that's the thought of commuting up either Titsey or Chalkpit nothing to do with the off.

I was told fresh air and keep it greasy, dress it just to stop clothes rubbing when you go out.

Smear yourself in Savlon and you'll be fine, if slightly slippery.

Abrasion wounds are prone to infection so tale care. Wash your hands with soapy water before touching it.
Wash it gently once a day with a clean cloth and rinse well with plain water. Dry off the surrounding skin thoroughly with a towel and apply a thin layer of Savlon.
Put some moisturizing lotion to all areas of skin that surround the grazing. DO NOT LEAVE IT OPEN TO THE AIR. Secure sterile dressing after each clean-up please!
These grazes should be virtually gone in 2 weeks all being well. If they persist or you notice inceased redness around the area, pain and foul-smelling discharge as well as mild flu symtoms - its infected, go to Doctors immediately!

Damn that first aid course was worth every penny :D :D :D

No doubt she was OLD, was somebodys WIFE and had several such TALES to tell

Had a guy in the office yesterday who probably went to the same nurse - got a nose bleed so what does he do? Tilts his head back and pinches the bridge between his eyes
When he'd almost chocked to death after so much of his own blood had run back down his throat I explained to him that he might be better off not doing that :D
