In a bid to boost his re-election campaign by securing the cycling lobby's vote, the Mayor for London in partnership with TfL and a yet to be named sponsor (the name "Hovis" being conspicuous by it's absence from the press release), has confirmed a second LONDON FREEWHEEL event this September.
For those who don't know, this was a day of cycling celebration in London (using some the area where ACC'ers were filmed for the TdF commercial) where some central London roads in the city of Westminster were closed off for a big cycling rally. Hovis co-sponsored the day with TfL and there were free Sandwiches etc., plus displays and stalls of bike stuff, a bit like the Cycle Village in Hyde Park on the TdF weekend. It'd make a great social ride for family members, especially children as they get to see some of the major London sights by bike.
