ACC Road Race

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:14 am

Apologies for starting a new topic - there seem to be few threads on the road race, but I really want to thank every one of the helpers that helped me stage a brilliant race. :D

Amy has already said that some of the riders came in early were praising the standard of the marshaling out there, one said "the best marshaled event I've ridden" :D

We had some new faces at the wheels of the cars, thanks to Ivor and Mike, who did a fantastic job, and old stagers Chris Colford (ass com) and "Knightrider"

There will be much debate as to the stopping of the pack, but I must emphasise that it in no way reflects on ACC's impeccable organisation.

This from Glyn:

Thanks for the results.

Please also thank the members of the Addiscombe that turned up on a nasty day and did a sterling job.

Your too modest Paul. Thanks for all the effort you put in organising it and to Snoop for gathering the marshals.

I was even more impressed that you managed to remain calm and collected at the end of it :D

Yep, Well done Paul and sooooooo Cooool. Many racers thanked me also and were really impressed, as always, with our Marshals and the guys in the cars. We could have done with a few more flags, even so all the efforts were very much appreciated. It was the shere numbers that helped give our race presence.

Some noticed I disappeared towards the end. Apologies peeps, due to flooding a contractor started pumping sewage out a front garden imediately after a blind left hand corner just before Parkgate. I stopped and asked if this could be delayed until the race was finished but he said if he delayed starting works the sewage might end up the their front room!!!!

Anyways, his roadworks sign indicated a lane restiction but should have read a lane closure. As all the traffic going our way was forced onto the other side of the road just after the bend. I thought that was asking for very big trub indeed and had to stay there to try and keep everyone safe. He finished just as the race was.

FYI on the motorcycle there's too much going on to watch the race but there were a few moments when in the mirror I could see a lot of Gold and at least once I saw Sylv, Marek, Stu or George giving it large and the bunch in a long single line behind. Ho hum, how exciting was that. Well done you racers for having a go, it made it a real event for us with you there. I can honestly say I feel sorry for Georges bike, with those legs it gets a real kicking every time, no easy rides with George.
