Running shoes

Postby monty » Fri Oct 03, 2003 11:49 am

Can anyone reco a quality shop to buy running shoes??

Ive just got back into running after a 2 yrs break & having read up on types of running shoes I realise that being a pronator with semi-dropped arches I need motion-control shoes like the Brooks Beast rather than the cushion/support shoes Ive been wearing.

I guess what I'm looking for is a shop that will do some form of test & advise on the best shoes for my condition.

There is also a running shop within the cycle surgery bike shop near liverpool street. I got my trainers from there. Although I have got some from run and become before so either shop should do.

Not sure where you live but yes to Run and become.. good place. Also 'sweatshop' in twickenham - similar - make you run up and down over pads to see what your foot does before recommending shoes.

I got mine in the runners need shop near liverpool street attached to the cycle surgery. I got a pair of Brooks Beast, heavy as hell but do the job, have cured all my knee problems etc. They put you on a treadmill and video you, play it back and you can see how good or bad a runner you are. They then choose the best trainers. They are really professional and don't give you a hard sell.

Highly recommended for running but the cycle surgery is rubbish.

Cheers

I run with niketown runners in Regents Park on tuesday nights and you can test their shoes on the run. I know the one Marco suggests is also a good shop.

Run and Become is strongly reccomended by a track running freind of mine, they are excellent so I am given to understand and only a stones throw from Victoria station.
