Help Campag. chorus rear mech setting help

Postby Fabobiker » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:24 pm

Hi guys,
my campagnolo chorus rear mech it works fine but is not moving up to the 26(last bigger one of the sprocket) and I can't remenber
which is the screw to tighten or loosen.
Before I try and mess it all up, I wonder if anyone who knows about it could help,
or if you know a link to a bike mechanic website would be much appreciated,
thanks

If memory serves the left one. I set it up by putting the jockey wheels under the smallest sprocket on the ergos and line up exactly with the right screw to fit that limit position. Then click four times up the cassette and then use the adjuster screw/wheel at the back of the derailleur to line the jockey wheels up under that sprocket perfectly. By setting up and adjusting on smallest and mid point sprocket everything else seems to fall in to place. I run it up and down the cassette to check and poss tiny adjustment on the adjuster screw/wheel, but only small movements. Finally use the left screw to fix the limit position at the big sprocket point to avoid the cage touching the spokes.

The Park Tools link in the Useful Info post has a lot of good instructions with pictures. The Campag site also had pdfs of the manuals you can download.

Left indeed, and you'll need to loosen it. You should see it fouling the derailleur cage at the point the chain refuses to go any closer to the spokes. If not, the problem is something else.

You should have got a helpful but alarming booklet with the mech, if you bought it new and separately from the bike. 'Alarming' because it will advise you to get a professional mechanic to fit and adjust everything and that failure to get it right can result in serious injury or death  .

You'll be fine though.

..bit tricky, but yeah..fix it!! :D

I also tighten up the wire adjustment on the back of the rear mech,
because when I went out this afternoon, as I rode for a little uphill, it was
jumping up and down.
I just rebuilt up this bike with new frame and using all my old spare parts,
didn't have any instruction from when I bought it new..years ago.

anyway, that was very helpful.

Thanks al ot
