SAT 20 CLUB RUN - REPORT

Postby Fabobiker » Sat Sep 20, 2008 10:11 pm

Hi everyone,
Beautiful sunny day today and even though lots of club members were competing,
there was quite a big group of bikers out for a club run this morning at Coulsdon South Station.

Amy was our Captain today reminding us to behave ourselves, rotate, close the gap and mind road holes etc..
..with a little help!!

And hup, we left. Here we had a quick stop to check everyone was there.

After a few miles everyone heard a loud "psssshhhh" sound.....that was my back wheel!!! A bad puncture, but no problem with the prompt help of
Adam and his very handy old style pump, so in a couple of minutes we were back on the track.
THANKS everyone for waiting! :D
Nice ride, and as the weather got warmer it seemed to turn into a lovely summer's day, thankfully a good choice having the summer outfit..
Down at the cafe in Charlwood..

Was nice to sit down outside at the back in the sunshine or even inside to cool down a bit
..and then the usual decision to make...

..which way shall we go back?
Even though I was tempted to go Box Hill..looking at the strong bunch who were ready to go there, I was more curious to
see what the usual CR way back looked like, so I decided to take the second option and joined ROB and SEAN
ROB
We went back at a fast pace. Sean was strong leading the hills, but Rob got stronger towards the end past
Merstham to Coulsdon..never below 23mph...therefore I named him "diesel".
Nice end stop at the cafe in Coulsdon,

where some other riders joined us after riding a different way back.
Anyway, a beautiful cycling day out to remember, 50 miles done at 16mph average, sorry Amy couldn't come
to Silent Pool today, hope you had a good ride down there and I might join you the next time you do it.
I'm looking forward to the Isle of Wight trip, if Rob or anyone wants to join..
See you Wed afternoon (if some of you are coming..) or definitely next Sat.
:D
Cheers, Fabo

Dear god, Fabrizio, get that picture off the forum! I am definitely not photogenic at the best of times let alone pulling some face

I quite enjoyed the ride down even though it seemed I had several who should've been in the faster group and whom I had a bit of trouble keeping reigned in (in fact I gave up  )

Absolutely lovely ride to the Silent Pool on quiet roads over Hurtwood down to Peaslake and Albury - if I'd had anyone with me, I had thought of taking them through the ford at Shere :D Sat and watched the dragonflies darting over the pool, it was so calm and peaceful, especially once a pair of walkers left. I could have done with an ice-cream there but there was no ice-cream van in the car park :(

Think I'll have to find a better route back but it'll probably be hillier than the one I chose yesterday back through East Horsley, Leatherhead, Epsom and Sutton :|

Hi Rob, on wednesday I'll start from the Starbucks we went past on the way back on the A23
before Coulsdon on the right hand side at 3.30 pm
Let me know if you are coming and if anyone else wants to join...you are all welcome.
I'll be waiting 10 min max, cos I don't want to be coming back in the dark...
a good couple of hours to keep the legs going.. nothing too tough.
Cheers, Fabo
