Book and mobile phone - kenley

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:20 am

I get to deal with a lot of cr*p as Secretary - mailshots, people trying to flog stuff etc etc, but this one is a good 'un.

Telephone call last night from a chap called Eric Ashford, who explained (in a 30 minute phone call) that he had placed his phone and a book on the top of his car and drove off (somewhere near Kenley aerodrome). Apparently a cyclist discovered said book and phone and tried a few local houses to see if he could return it. Now, Eric spoke to his postman, who spoke to be the postman on another round (are you following - you can see why it took 30 minutes) who said that a lady on his round had been approached by a cyclist (assumed to be ACC) with regard to said book, and the postman told the postman that told the lady that told Eric that the lady who spoke to the cyclist told him (phew) that the book and phone was in the hands of the club's secretary....moi

Now I haven't been to Kenley for ages, so it wasn't me, and no-one has passed anything to me.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I take it it's a good read and he's near the end.

Sounds like the beginning of one o them scams. Have they offered you a share of a multi million dollar fortune in return for the goods and yer bank account details like..?

Obviously not one of us.

An Agreeable would have been smart enough to switch on the phone, ring the number listed against "Home" and told whomever answered he'd found the phone.

Failing that, call any one of the contacts and ask if they know the bloke's address.
