Ibbo Cake Quest - This Sunday....

Postby Tony » Thu Oct 09, 2008 5:04 pm

Folks, please be aware of the Ibbo Cake Quest this Sunday. The clash with the Bec and Catford Hill Climbs is very unfortunate scheduling. Nonetheless, it would be great to get as much ACC recognition there as possible.

Ibbo was friend of many of the ACC-riders and a regular face on the ACC clubruns during winter for several seasons not so many years ago. He was always willing to impart his knowledge and experience in a good-natured, motivational sort of way. He introduced many to the legendary Fanny's Farm Shop (cake stops were practically comulsory) and rides with him were always fun. Later, he co-founded Fit-For, along with Stephen Bayliss. His relaxed, good-humoured style and invaluable experience enabled Fit-For to really take off in next to no time. Unfortunately, just as John was getting in to his stride with Fit-For an undetected heart defect (ARVD) resulted in his very untimely passing in late September 2005. SE cycling lost a great friend that day.
