This week I will be mostly going for quite a long one over fairly tough terrain. Feel free to join me if you want to.
Start: 9am at GBs
Terrain: rolling with a few tough(ish) hills getting in the way.
Distance: GBs – GBs = 80 miles (+ getting lost distance).
Pace: Steady. Not slow, but not a "training" ride.
Route: Can be found here.
In summary it’s out via Titsey and then straight along the rolling B road through to, and climbing up to, Ashdown Forest. Then down t’other side to Maresfield and east towards Black Boys. From here there are some very nice looking lanes that I’ve not been down before which I’m hoping to use and wind my way up towards Groombridge – this is where the “+ getting lost distance†may come in to play. I don’t care though and it’s half the fun of cycling and finding new routes. From Groombridge via Fordcoombe to Penshurst and then home (the linked route shows my preferred option of Toy’s hill and Pilgrims Way for this but on the day I may just climb up to Crockham and through Westerham).
I may not bother with a coffee stop, if I do it won’t be before Penshurst or Westerham.
If you want to join me my standard Sunday rules apply:
Self Sufficiency – make sure you have the tools, tubes, food and drink to fend for yourself. Bring a map (or print out bits of the route linked to) to find your way home if you are dropped and get lost, drop me and get lost, want to turn back early and are lost.
Cheers,
Andrew.
