Dinner time

In response to several requests as to what time this weekend's ACC dinner starts

[size=200]IT'S WRITTEN ON THE TICKET!

6.30 for 'cocktails' 7.00pm start

Realistically you don't have to have cocktails - there's beer and wine, and given the queue at the bar last year when 80 odd people turned up at precisely the same moment. As it's a posh golfing hotel the bar will be open all day so it might be worth getting there slightly before 6.30 if you want a pre-dinner drink. Like 4ish :D

Personally I was hoping to get a quick 18 holes in after the club run but my fairway buggy has got a flat near-side tyre. Anyone know a cheap caddy?

when I was a boy I used to caddy at Selsdon Park Golf Course, I'd work all morning and get the tight one who only gave me a fiver whereas all the others got £20 :roll:

Were they trying to tell you something George? :roll:

....but when I was a lad (in the early 70's) I use to caddy at Purley Downs Golf Course and paid 50p a round, and £1 on a competition day. I would even select the clubs for them and even carry the bag for the mean ones to save them hiring a trolley - an added value service.

An urban myth amongst the caddy community said that if you got a Japanese golfer at Selson Park they would often give you a tenner for a round, but whenever I went up there they never seemed to turn up, so got nought. :( There's a moral there I think.

I'm retired now before you get any ideas Huw.
