Hi Guys, just going to buy some wheels off a Carl Venter, who lives a stone's throw from Coulsdon South. Said he went out with the club a few times, remembers Jason, Sylv and Marco. He did the Dusk 2 Dawn when Sylv got a top 3 on single speed in the solo category.

yep, thats's him, said he's from SA. Into motor bikes now so selling his bike stuff

I remember him very well - I think he use to be a copper in SA. He used to go on about how shocking he found the animosity between cyclists in the UK - said that the bitterness between MTBers and Roadies was worst than Apartheid

As Marco says, very nice friendly bloke, and he did have a lot of expensive gear. One week he just stopped turning up for the off-road rides, a few weeks later I heard that someone had bumped into him and he had told them that he had flogged all his bikes. That was a few years back, so I guess he must have started again if he's selling stuff now.
