Tippity Top Alpine Accommodation

If you're looking for a cut-price snowy break next month...or some super dooper accommodation for the Marmotte or the less-well known but apparently even more gruelling (than the Marmotte???) Marco Pantani race then here is the answer: http://www.ecrinslodge.com

I stayed with the fabulously hospitable Will & Alex (and Basil the dog) when on a cycling jaunt last summer and felt like I was having a holiday round a friend's place...only without having to help out with the housework....it was just brilliant...and Will is an exceptional chef.

Anyhow....today I received the following email from them, and said I'd post it on the forum.

FROM WILL AT ECRINS LODGE:

Just a quick hello to many of our previous guests and some of you who have expressed an interested in our Lodge. I hope those of you in the UK have been enjoying the recent snow. We have also been enjoying a bumper season for snow here in the Alps, although regrettably, we haven’t had nearly enough days on the mountain.

My apologies for the shameless self promotion, but this is a message to try and drum up some business for us here at the Ecrins Lodge. Unfortunately the state of the economy and the exchange rate between the pound and the euro has really affected the winter ski season for everyone this year. Nothing terminal for us thankfully since the majority of our costly renovations are now completed. However we do still have plenty of weeks available especially in March which is classically the best skiing of the winter season. Thanks to the slow year those visiting the Alps have not only benefited from cheap flights and great snow, but outside of the school holidays, have generally had the slopes to themselves.

As a spring incentive, we have recently reduced the price for all our remaining weeks, especially those last minute weeks towards the end of this month. As an example, our exclusive price to returning guests, for the week starting the 22nd February, is as low as €325 per person half board for the week.

In addition we will also consider shorter breaks for as low as €50 a night half board, so long as the departure is by the Sunday. This way we are still able to take a 7 night booking for the following week.

I have just had a quick look at selected flights on Ryanair from Stansted to Grenoble and many return fares work out at around £35 inclusive of all taxes.

Thankfully our summer business doesn’t seem to have been affected and we are predicting an even busier season than last year. Early weeks in May, June and July are filling up fast, although we still have seven night deals for 7 people during the Marmotte week at the beginning of July and space for the lesser know but even more gruelling second staging of the Marco Pantani race towards the end of August.

Please feel free to pass this message on to anyone who may be interested and we would be very grateful to anyone who could print and display either of our attached promotional posters in work places or sporting clubs.

Alex and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
