The Grauniad is generally better than most at covering cycling, and there is a report on the website [url]http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/mar/22/mark-cavendish-milan-san-remo-win[/url] to follow up yesterday's in the Observer.

I imagine space must have been at a premium in the sports pages today - what with the rugby, the women's World Cup cricket victory, Formula 1 not quite starting and Wigan v Hull City .

Progress is being made though. I see the world track championships have reached the dizzy heights of BBC2 now .

Have to agree with you Sean, I got the Sunday times and only a snippet about Cav. I was most annoyed that even after the tdf was in the UK and the Olympics highs no sports editor gave him or the significance of winning that race more space in the back pages.

So long as Walsh and that ridiculous Kimmage write for the Sunday Times any cycling coverage will be on the level of poking around in dustbins looking for scandal. Sport section of Murdoch's flagship rag goes straight in the guinea pig hutch where Snuffles and Fluffy give it the attention it deserves.

Just got to get my morning rant sorted before I start work...

Got the Times this morning. There was a picture on the back page of Lance sitting on his backside after falling off his bike. There was also a quite large writup of how his season is under theat. Noticed it was also in other papers. Apparently this is bigger news that a Brit winning a major classic for the first time since the 60s.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cav just leaves the UK....He doesn't get any mainstream support really...

Another point, why oh why are the papers much more interested in writing about things going wrong, than celebrating things going right. If they gave some support to Cav, it might inspire many to try to achieve more in cycling \ sport....
