Is it time to update the kit again?

Postby Toks » Wed Apr 08, 2009 11:02 am

I think I've been wearing it for nearly five years now. Perhaps an update is needed for the start of the 2010 season. What do you reckon?

5yrs. and the kit still looks better a lot of other teams. sounds like a plan, as long as it looks good.

Typical! I've just joined ACC and literally just spent £100+ on kit the other week.......

Was chatting to the guys in GB and they're running low on most items. They were talking about upping prices due to the Euro exchange rate and were going to discuss with Monty before ordering in new stock.

I reckon we have the better of the yellowish coloured kits but as a forward thinking club I think we should look for a new design. I guarantee that half of the reason London Dynamo is the biggest club in the South East is coz they have one of the best kits. Dulwich Paragon's have bumbed up their numbers recently having had a kit update a couple of years ago. Unlike some clubs I admit we don't necessarily need more members but who cares - lets update it anyway :D

What benfefit will it achieve having a new kit Toks? A big hole in everyones pocket perhaps?

The money could be better spent elsewhere, some suggetsions :-

1. Coaching
2. Training camps
3. Social events
4. Training equipment i.e powertaps for testing, or perhaps spares bikes just in case one's breaks there own and don't own another one

Just my opinion so please don't take it as gospel.

Rob

P.S If you want a new kit suggest joing another club perhaps?

I've just had the zip on my ACC gilet replaced. On these grounds alone I vote for maintenance of the status quo (oh yeah)

the costs and benefits of this one need to be juxtaposed. theres no point updating it just for the sake of updating it, when it looks pretty good anyway. what else can you do with yellow, black and white? (other than columbias kit)

It looks crap.

Update it.

I will back andrew for a modern take on the orginal jersey. You know the one, where its just yellow, with a white band round the chest, with little black border line. And Addiscombe written on the white band, front and back.

No need to put CC, everyone's gonna know your a cyclist when you have it on anyway, silly!

I would reccomend not getting an Italian company to make it, if you want to receive it before 2012.

actually one of my mates has her own set of fabric spray paints...

PLEASE NO MORE RETRO. 1) because in a few years we'll have to update it again cos retro will be out of fashion 2) its only good if done properly, and the idea of a slapdash bumblebee design does not sound good.

I don't think it looks crap? What kind of crap do you think it looks like, Adam, and what isn't crap in your eyes? Examples please...

I like it, I say keep it and spend the money on doing different things. Like a couple of those banner flags to put at the finish line on our races and TT's and for the end of the ACC Sportive.
