Brighton ride Bank Holiday w/e

Postby Amy » Wed Apr 22, 2009 2:04 pm

I don't like the 'official' route - anybody want to join me? I'll dig out the link to the route in Routes but basically it's in reverse to the way everybody else rides down

OK, I know it means you don't get to ride up THAT side of Ditchling but you get to ride up the other side of Devil's Dyke and you don't get that awful drag with the speed bumps straight after lunch - my routes goes back to the Steyne and then goes up a back road across a park to get to the Ditchling road. For those who are doing the normal route you might like to consider dropping down to Brighton by this road - it's almost directly opposite the road off Ditchling where it meets the main road and goes through a much nicer area than the other road we use as well as being all down hill :D

Possibly maybe depending on weather etc. Which day were you thinking of, and what sort of pace? I don't want you to catch cold waiting for me at the tops of the hills

Actually I realised today that I'm jumping the gun a bit. Monty announced a Brighton ride at last Saturday's cr and as I only caught bits of what he actually said, I thought it was for the Bank Holiday coming up, when it was just Mayish, ooops....

But would people still want to do this ride and then go again with Monty's all club trip later in the month? Could always try my route this time and then go the 'official' route with Monty's groups.

Of course it is weather dependent... either one

Either way on the Bank Holiday Monday I'll be at CSS at 9am, for a ride. Happy to go to Brighton or wherever.

Oh no, I'll be riding somewhere behind you

Pace is as it comes - keep it fairly brisk but not kill anyone. Oh and Monday, looks like 9am and see who turns up 8) and what the weather's like.

As there seems a few people up for this and I've invited a couple of old friends along too -

How about 9am at CSS this Bank Holiday Monday?

(weather dependent, of course)(not to mention whether this sore throat turns out to be swine flu...)

I have a feeling Monday for me has been pre-booked in as a 'family' day

Weather n legs permitting. I may do the normal CR to Charlwood, then Charlwood to BH.... But instead of up BOX, may continue straight past for some extra miles, just a thought.

See how the day goes. (I may be being issued with an all-day pass)

Or I might even do Charlwood to South coast, I just wonna ride :D

Should be up for this as need the miles plus can't make Saturday as NCT class all day! Only thing that might get in the way is if the wife starts any contractions and we think the baby's gonna be in its way.....

....not sure if there's any other groups, Amy, as Monty mentioned it briefly as an idea last week in the 17s but doesn't seem much on the boards.

See you at CSS at 9am Monday!

PS. Rob, Marky Mark et al have a great CR on Sat!

So is it still a go? In which case I'm in (well if Amy can still tolerate me of course! I'll be nice and disciplined, I promise.).
See you tomorrow, CSS @9am then! Virginia should be there as well.

Tim, maybe now is time to provision a few nights worth of sleep, seems you will need them very soon :) Hope to see you tomorrow!

Yes, I should be up for this - both figuratively and literally

Been a bit of a hectic weekend as my old friend Ian was taken into hospital on Saturday. That wasn't the reason for my no show on the cr - that was due to a hectic seven days or so prior and an incipient cold.

So I was having a restful day, trying to catch up with a bit of house work when at 3pm I get a call from Ian saying he's in St Helier and could I get some things for him... Unfortunately he lives alone apart from his cat and so they had to keep him in and I've been running around organising people and getting more stuff up to him in my panniers in between lunch at my parents.

The probably diagnosis is a blood clot on the lungs and they can't do the scan to confirm this until Tuesday when they've got the staff in
